MARTIN BROWN

Martin Brown,British designer, began his professional career in Great Britain
( after finishing his studies at Winchester School of Art) working as a textile designer in collaboration with
such fashion houses as Issey Miyake, Oscar de La Renta and Christian Dior,
as well as being the principal designer for the Burton Retail Group.

In 1984, Martin Brown worked on a publicity campaign for Shiseido aa well as working on decoration projects
for restaurants and clubs.in 1989,during his stay in Japan, he created the interior for the Dragon Cafe , 
as well as textile designs for the Pink Soda company in Tokyo.

In 1990, he  moved to Mexico, where he created the  mural decorations for the Carlo de Michelis shops ,textile designs 
for the Bye Bye company and graphic work for the PRI and the Nacional Lottery.
Apart from his work in textiles , he became well known in his use of mosaic, which he employed in restaurants  such as
"Cicero Centenario","Ixchel" and Sushi Itto" in Mexico City and Tamayo in Palm Beach and Denver ,Colorado.

In 1998,he opened the avantgarde homestore "Hacking & Brown",with his partner Tina Hacking ,in Mexico City,
showing his own line of furniture ,ceramics and carpets ,at the same time promoting the work of other designers.
He has completed numerous commisssions for private residences in Acapulco, Cancun, Cuernavaca
Puerto Vallarta , in Mexico, Egypt,the Unitied States,Great Britain, Italy and Switzerland.

His work has  been exhibited individually ,as well as collectively in the Galeria Mexicana de Diseño, Galeria 100
and the San Carlos Musuem in Mexico City ,as well as the Galeria Chile y Chocolate in Madrid and Marbella
and has been featured in the interior design magazines "Elle Deco","Metropitan Home","Harpers Bazaar"
"Nuevo Estilo" y "Diseño Interior"
His work has also been used in the "Absolut Vodka "publicity campaigns ,in Mexico.

In 2003, Martin Brown moved to Barcelona, where he has continued working on private commisions
for clients in Barcelona and Madrid,hotel projects in Cadiz and Cordoba
and working with interior designers such as Pascua Ortega and Maipi Esteban,
as well as producing more than four new collections per year.
His latest exhibition has been at THE ARTISTS STUDIO, BARCELONA,in May 2007
a new gallery/space directed bt Annette Mann

Martin Brown has worked for  well known clients such as Versace, Cartier, Neiman Marcus , Citibank and his work
forms part of  the Miguel Aleman Foundation, The Natasha Gelman Collection , the Paola Azcárraga Collection in Mexico
and the Von Bismark Collection ,in Marbella and he created a series of sculptures for a gala dinner
 in the Casa Batlló ,in Barcelona.

His designs are a unique hybrid of classical, baroque, neo-mexican, retro and avantgarde styles
to produce a highly original use of the centuries old mosaic technique.
His designs can be adapted to  mirrors,murals ,tables,bathrooms ,swimming pools, 
corporate logos and range from one of a kind pieces to small production items.
In 2007 , he launched his new range of Borders,floors and wall mosaics.
